The name "Dahab" is the Arabic term for the English word “Gold” and refers to the region's sandy, palm lined beaches where the water washed into the sea sparkling like gold.

This desert oasis, situated in a sheltered bay, one hour drive north of Sharm el Sheikh, is perfect for divers as well as for windsurfers. It is also a great place for those seeking retreat and relaxation. Throughout Summer, the weather temperatures in Dahab remain a few degrees cooler than further south.

During the 80's and 90's Dahab became a key stop for backpackers seeking a primary environment similar to destinations such as KohSamui in Thailand or Goa in India. Today, however, Dahab offers variety of accommodation choices, with many luxurious hotels, and resorts.

Many dive sites are accessible by cars, while the more remote ones can be reached by Jeep or camel. Thanks to the special rugged topography of the coast with some of the most exciting diving sites in the Red Sea such as the Canyon and Three Pools South Oasis.
